I was about to start some work but couldn’t help noticing this post from a dear follower and I could not ignore the clear cry for help, so I put my work aside and, instead, put all my intellect to work to help this friend – whom I shall call Catherine for reasons of anonymity – understand the inner workings of her mind. I have consulted an online Dictionary of Dreams and have found some fascinating information.

“Dream analysis please: I was just putting face powder on Yul Brynner in order to take a selfie with him….any ideas?”
Firstly, Catherine, you need to understand that hair (or lack of it) has great importance in the interpretation of dreams…
‘baldness symbolizes humility, purity, and personal sacrifice. You are at a stage in your life where you are confident in fully exposing yourself.’
Of course, since it was Yul who was bald, he is the one who is full of these qualities; however, since he’s dead (shame), these qualities must be transferred to you and so you must practise being humble, pure and self-sacrificing. I find it easiest to do this with a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

I’m not too sure about the ‘fully exposing yourself’ element of the interpretation – is your garden overlooked by any other houses? If so, may I suggest that you wear at least a modest little bikini?
The second point to consider is the face powder – have you, by some chance, turned into a little old lady who uses face powder and a nice little eau de cologne? No, I didn’t think so.
‘To dream that you are applying make-up suggests that you are trying to cover up or conceal an aspect of yourself. Alternatively, it indicates that you are putting on your best face forward. You are trying to enhance your self-image and increase your sense of self-confidence.’
Now, I particularly like the idea of ‘putting on your best face forward’ – have you been trying to put your face on backward? Or have you been putting your lipstick on your forehead and your eyeshadow on your lips? If this is the case, you have taken my advice too much to heart and have consumed more Sauvignon Blanc than is good for you.
And finally, that selfie:
‘To see a photograph in your dream indicates that there is a relationship that needs your attention. You are not looking deep enough into the problem.’
Perhaps you had not realised that Yul Brynner was dead and you were trying to forge a relationship with a person who no longer exists?
Personally, I can only suggest that you book an appointment with a psychoanalyst as soon as possible or that you refrain from watching ‘The King and I’ or ‘The Magnificent Seven’ late at night after too many glasses of Sauvignon Blanc.
